Beeswax wraps

Hello bloggers!

Today I am going to tell you what we made. We made Beeswax wraps so we can stop using plastic for our food.

1. 100% Cotton
2. Pinking shears
3. Beeswax pellet
4. Baking paper
5. Iron
6. Old Towel
7. Cardboard(optional) 

:Method

Select your 100% cloth or fabric and then place it on the table.

Cut your 100%cloth/fabric with pinking shears (measuring 30 cm

Sprinkle a handful of beeswax pellets on the whole cloth

Put some baking paper on the cloth

You have to iron the baking paper on it

Once you already iron the baking paper on it you have to take the baking paper off the beeswax.

Take the bees wax paper off the baking sheet.

Let it dry it will take 2 seconds and you have your beeswax thing.

What I learnt at the stardome observatory

Hello bloggers! Today I have learnt about Matariki at the stardome observatory. What I have learnt about the Matariki was a lot of information about Matariki. I will tell you now! The three sons that wanted to push there parents away became the god of forest and the god of wind. Also the son that badly wanted to see the sun became the god of war. He always wanted to fight. Here is another tale about Matariki. There was a young lady who was cooking her food for her village. When she ran out of rocks to heat up her food she got very furious. She went down to the sea and tripped on a rock. The moon covered the stars and Rona could not see. Rona became very very VERY FURIOUS so she was saying mean things to the moon, so the moon grabbed Rona and Rona was holding on to the tree with all her strength. But now Rona lives inside the moon. Here is another legendary tale about Matariki. One night there was a man on his waka and he was sailing across the sea then the sharp jaws of a big BIG sea monster attacked him. He had the shiniest rocks ever! He put 20 of them around his boat so he could see where he was going. He sailed away and the big sea monster vanished. Somehow he lighted the world up with stars! 

   

Are these signs important?

Last week we read an article about a family of boys who went on a ferry and noticed that there were signs EVERYWHERE!
We then had a look around our school for signs and took some photos of them. 

I made a DLO which signs are not important. I put the pictures on the important side because it says be active keep learning give notice. I also put the hay park way picture on the important side because its a sign that is telling you to be respectful and resilient and responsible. The water meter is important because we need water for the world or else the turtles and fish wont be able to breath. The password sign is very VERY important because if someone hacks your Chromebook you will lose everything in your account and you will have to make a new one. Do you agree? Or do you think these signs are not important?    

My Special Item

Hello bloggers! Today I have my special Item and it is my Ipad. This was my task for my reading group. I would like to share it to you. This is special to me because it was a gift from my parents on Christmas Day. It has a black case and it is black as you can see.

Siapo design

Talofa lava bloggers!

This week is Samoan language week and we have been looking and learning about the siapo (also known as a tapa) and how they are created. I have learnt how to make a siapo.

Did you know that the colours that they use for the siapo are all taken from the natural environment in Samoa. For example turmeric is used to make the colour yellow.

We then had a go at creating a siapo using google drawing. If you look carefully you might notice that some of my shapes have also been rotated. I had to resize some of the symbols and my patterns too.

Hello bloggers! Today my home learning task was drawing myself In a digital portrait. I didn't know how to do It but my brother told me what to do.
